Skoda Fabia comfort 1.9 tdi review

I bought my Skoda Fabia comfort second hand, just 3 years old with 27000 miles on the clock and it has been the best car I have ever had. Every thing about the car is right and does what it is supposed to do without expensive bells an whistles. (which all went wrong on my Peugeot 406 and cost a fortune)

The Skoda Fabia's chassis has a long wheelbase and an wide track in relation to its length giving it a comfortable ride and good road holding. The suspension geometry has been engineered to provide sharp steering response and the ride is very good even on uneven road surfaces. Every Fabia features ventilated front disc brakes with sliding calliper design and ABS (anti-lock braking system). EBD (electronic brake force distribution) is standard on TDI versions which adapts to shifting loads under normal braking, ensuring maximum braking force where it is most needed. The fabia gives a smooth and stable ride, if you want a sports car the Fabia is not for you,but under normal driving conditions the Fabia's ride and handling is fantastic.

The steering is superb and very direct giving with correct amount of feedback keeping you comfortable and in tune with the road. Power steering is standard throughout the Fabia range and works well with the electro-hydraulic system. It is also speed sensitive which helps at lower speeds when parking.

It is a very easy car to drive and manoeuvre with very good visibility and parking is simple. The interior is a little bland but functional all controls are easy to operate.

I am 6' 2'' but the Fabia's long wheelbase gives in extra leg room in both the front and rear. The Fabia's wider cabin results in more room than most of its rivals offering impressive head and shoulder room. The doors are large and open wide which make it an easy car to get in and out of which is ideal for my wife who is recovering from a broken leg.

The hatchback version offers 260 litres of storage space with the rear seats in place and when the seats are folded flat this expands to an impressive 1016 litres. The seats also have a 60/40 asymmetric split and fold flat. The Fabia incorporates large door bins, a lit glove compartment with two cup holders moulded into the lid, seat back pockets, seat mounted storage pockets and lashing eyelets in the boot for securing larger loads. The estate is great for towing our tdi pulls my trailer with a ton load effortlessly..
